Lumedica Vision Achievements

LumAI - 2025

Lumedica Vision’s new LumAI software brings AI-powered decision support to eye care professionals. Built to work seamlessly with our high-performance OCT systems, LumAI interprets retinal scans by comparing them against a comprehensive database of known ocular diseases, highlighting areas with potential pathology. By enabling automated image classification at the point of care, LumAI streamlines the diagnostic process—an essential capability for effective screening programs. This enhanced workflow supports higher patient throughput and helps detect more cases of vision-threatening conditions earlier, expanding access to timely eye care.

OQ EyeScope 2.0 /RUO - 2025

Officially launched in 2025, this next-generation spectral-domain OCT platform is designed for research use only, delivering high-resolution retinal imaging in a compact, lightweight (<10 lb) tabletop form factor. Building on the success of the original EyeScope 1.0, the 2.0 model offers faster acquisition speeds, enhanced image quality, and improved usability—making it an ideal solution for academic labs, early-stage clinical research, and vision science studies.

OQ EyeScope 1.0 /RUO - 2020

In 2020, Lumedica Vision's OQ EyeScope 1.0 /RUO officially launched as a research-use-only (RUO) retinal OCT system and became available for purchase. This tabletop spectral-domain OCT instrument, designed to weigh under 10 lbs, embodies the company’s mission to make high-resolution retinal imaging accessible at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems. This marked an important milestone—transitioning the technology from prototype to market-ready product, firmly anchoring Lumedica Vision’s commitment to democratizing OCT for global eye health.

Founding of Lumedica Vision - 2019

Lumedica Vision was founded in 2019 by Dr. Adam Wax and Dr. William Brown. Lumedica Vision launched as a focused venture on affordable OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) systems for eye disease screening. By leveraging innovations in low-cost optics, compact system design, and user-friendly software, Lumedica Vision aims to make high-resolution retinal imaging available to underserved populations, rural clinics, and global health settings where such tools had previously been out of reach.
