Saving Vision With AI-Enabled

Diagnosis Support

Lumedica Inc., founded in 2014 by Dr. Adam Wax and Dr. William Brown, was established with the mission to make optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems more affordable and accessible. In pursuit of this goal, the company launched its first research OCT system, the OQ Labscope 1.0, in 2017 at a breakthrough price of $9,995. Since then, Lumedica has continued to advance its technology, now offering the OQ Labscope 3.0 product line with enhanced performance, including scan speeds up to 80,000 A-scans per second and resolutions as fine as 2 microns. In 2019, the company introduced the OQ Stratascope, which uses a 1310 nm light source for deeper imaging in highly scattering samples, expanding the range of research and industrial applications. Today, Lumedica systems are used in over 30 countries worldwide.

Recognizing the potential for OCT in clinical care, Lumedica expanded in 2019 with the launch of Lumedica Vision, dedicated to ophthalmic and medical applications. This division is focused on delivering affordable, high-quality OCT solutions to the healthcare market, including the pending FDA-approved OQ Eyescope 1.0/X for retinal imaging. In addition to ophthalmology, Lumedica Vision is actively developing systems for use in dermatology, dentistry, oncology, and intraoperative imaging, bringing advanced OCT capabilities to a growing range of clinical fields.
